1. Support HUSD Vision, Mission and Goals
  2. Performs a variety of daily routine grounds and maintenance tasks at assigned work site.
  3. Moves furniture, books, boxes, and equipment.
  4. Performs many diversified tasks to maintain the school (i.e. routine painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, heating/cooling, other related maintenance activities, special set ups, and opening and closing of buildings including grounds maintenance.
  5. Performs minor maintenance duties, such as changing air conditioner/heating filters, light bulbs, and repairing furniture or equipment to ensure proper working condition. Reports vandalism or other facility damage to Maintenance Foreman.
  6. Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements

  1. Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. Two years of maintenance and custodial experience preferred.
  3. Working knowledge of all types of commercial cleaning and sanitizing products, and their appropriate use.
  4. Experience with basic lawn equipment
  5. Proficiency in the use of commercial cleaning equipment.
  6. Working knowledge of general maintenance tools and equipment.
  7. Ability to perform heavy manual labor.
  8. Effective communicator who works cooperatively with others.
  9. Must have the ability to obtain Certification in First Aid and CPR.
  10. Ability to pass background and reference checking as stipulated by District standards.  
  11. IVP Finger Print Clearance Card.

The employee is regularly required to perform the following duties:

  1. Moving about on foot with minimal rest.
  2. Occasionally remain in a seated position or remain on one’s feet in an upright position at a location without moving about.
  3. Raising or lowering objects from one level to another from 25 – 75 lbs.
  4. Exerting force upon an object so that the object moves away from the force or towards the force.
  5. Frequently required to position body to perform maintenance duties by bending body downward and forward at the waist often requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles, bending body downward and forward by bending legs and spine.
  6. Occasionally ascending or descending ladders and stairs using feet and legs or hands and arms.
  7. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  8. Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching on narrow slippery surfaces.
  9. Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands.
  10. Clarity of vision at various ranges up to 20 feet including observing an area that can be seen up and down or to the right or left while eyes are fixed on a given point.
  11. Ability to judge distances and spatial relationships so as to see objects where and as they actually are.
  12. Exposure to the following environmental conditions including weather, moving mechanical parts, electric shock, vibration, extreme heat, noise, and toxic chemicals.
