ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Support HUSD Vision, Mission and Goals.
- Assist the Director of Special Education in the general administration of the special education department and assume the role and responsibility for the Director of Special Education in his/her absence as assigned.
- Assist in providing leadership and coordination for the special education department.
- Assist in the evaluation of special education classified and certified staff.
- Collaborate with school personnel to share information to better understand students and their needs.
- Assist in providing technical assistance to teachers and school administrators in inclusion models for instructional needs of students.
- Assist the Director of Special Education in serving as a liaison for building administrators in curriculum, instruction, data analysis, and related programs.
- Recommend appropriate materials for Special Education instructional programs to the Director of Special Education.
- Serve as liaison, in conjunction with the Director of Special Education, with state and federal agencies concerning compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Assist in providing staff development for district staff, site special education teachers, and paraprofessional staff.
- Assist with legal matters pertaining to the special education department.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree required in related area. Master’s degree preferred.
- State of Arizona administrative certification required as applicable.
- A minimum of three years of successful related experience.
- Specific administrative experience through internship and/or previous employment.
- Crisis Prevention Intervention training or willingness to be trained
- No convictions for felonies or crimes against children
