ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Support HUSD Vision, Mission and Goals.
  2. Maintains and cares for school and District grounds. Duties include: cleaning up leaves, plant debris, trash, mowing grass, trimming bushes and trees, inspecting playground areas for safety concerns, maintaining sprinkler systems, and maintaining athletic fields.
  3. Maintain landscaping equipment, and routinely check vehicles used by crew.  Report any issues to supervisor.
  4. Special projects include fence repair, flood damage repair, sprinkler installation, and pouring concrete.  May mix chemicals for weed control spraying.
  5. Operates hand or motorized lawn mowers and other associated lawn equipment.
  6. Set up and line (chalk or paint) fields for sports. 
  7. Due to the potential for access to confidential  information, it is absolutely mandatory that this
  8. position safeguard and maintain the confidentiality of the information stored and discussed.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:  

  1. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Commercial Driver's License preferred. Possession of valid driver’s license required.
  2. Non-allergic to grasses, trees, plants and common fertilizers.
  3. Experienced in seeding and transplanting beds, water sprinkling systems, pruning and hedge trimming and the application of appropriate chemicals and fertilizers.  Employee assigned to perform application of pesticides and weed control requires certification.
  4. Ability to pass background and reference checking as stipulated by District standards.
  5. Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

The employee is regularly required to perform the following duties:

  1. Constantly works in outdoor weather conditions with environmental noise.
  2. Moving about on foot with minimal rest.
  3. Operate and inspect landscaping equipment.
  4. Raising or lowering objects from one level to another from 35 – 50 lbs.
  5. Frequently utilize 10 pound backpack
  6. Exerting force upon an object so that the object moves away from the force or towards the force.
  7. Frequently required to position body to perform maintenance duties by bending body downward and forward at the waist often requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles, bending body downward and forward by bending legs and spine.
  8. Occasionally ascending or descending ladders using feet and legs or hands and arms.
  9. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  10. Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching on narrow slippery surfaces.
  11. Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands.
  12. Clarity of vision at various ranges up to 20 feet including observing an area that can be seen up and down or to the right or left while eyes are fixed on a given point.
  13. Ability to judge distances and spatial relationships so as to see objects where and as they actually are.
  14. Exposure to the following environmental conditions including weather, moving mechanical parts, electric shock, vibration, extreme heat, noise, and toxic chemicals.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:  Full-Time Position - 12 months, Monday - Friday 8 hours a day 

 

SALARY CLASSIFICATION:  Appropriate salary placement on the Classified Hourly Salary Schedule.

 

EVALUATION:  Performance of this job will be evaluated by Site Administrator and according to District Policy.

 

TOTAL PAID HOLIDAYS: 21
