Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Designing and implementing sporting strategies.
- Scheduling and running team practice sessions.
- Maintaining sports equipment.
- Working to improve team unity and sportsmanship.
- Emphasizing skills development including safety, fair play, and sportsmanship.
- Setting realistic and age-appropriate expectations for team members.
- Ensuring proper sideline behavior from team members and parents.
- Ensuring the safety of the team during practice sessions and games.
- Supporting the HUSD Vision, Mission, and Goals.
- Supervising and instructing sports activities to promote a positive and engaging environment.
- Assisting in program promotion to increase awareness and participation.
- Communicating effectively with staff, students, and parents.
- Teaching sports-related rules and procedures.
- Supporting in coaching, reefing, set up/take down and day of event planning.
- Safeguarding sports players from avoidable injuries by instilling appropriate techniques.
- Supervising the use of sporting equipment.
- Encouraging thoroughness, adherence to sporting guidelines, and sportsmanship.
- Collaborate with the Sports Specialist on additional assignments.
Youth Sports Support Staff Requirements
- High Scholl Diploma or GED
- 6 months of working is a similar field.
- Three letters of recommendation.
- Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Ability to pass background check and reference checking as stipulated by District standards.
- First Aid and CPR certified preferred.
- Proven work experience as a youth sports.
- Youth teaching experience is preferred.
- Passion for youth development.
- In-depth knowledge of sporting strategies.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and engage effectively with students.
