ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Support HUSD Vision, Mission and Goals
  2. Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
  3. Assess students with speech or language disorders, diagnose and identify disorders, and determine eligibility for services.
  4. Serves as case manager for all SLI only students.
  5. As part of a team, develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs). Determines speech and language goals and objectives.
  6. Develops speech and language treatment plans. Provides appropriate individual and group therapy to students consistent with speech/language goals in the IEP.
  7. Maintain records for the purpose of providing written documentation of services provided and student progress.
  8. Evaluate student progress and determine readiness for termination of therapy services.
  9. Travel between sites, as assigned, to perform therapeutic activities.
  10. Supervises Speech-Language Pathology Assistants.
  11. Perform additional duties as assigned.

  

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree from an accredited institution in Speech Pathology or Communication Disorders.
  2. Certificate from ADE and ADHS required.
  3. CFY or CCC from ASHA preferred.
  4. Two years of school-based experience preferred.
  5. Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  6. Ability to work independently and to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with district staff and site team members.
  7. Ability to contribute and participate in the assessment, intervention and documentation process.
  8. Demonstrated proficiency in computer software programs including all Microsoft applications.
  9. Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
