- Supports HUSD Vision, Mission and Goals.
- Provide lighting, sound, rigging and stage set-up services for presentations scheduled by groups associated with the District and other groups that do not require a lighting and/or sound specialist.
- Assist with hanging lighting instruments according to lighting design.
- Operate stage, house and lobby lighting control systems.
- Operate stage rigging systems safely.
- Set-up and operate sound equipment for simple sound reinforcement.
- Assist with load-in, rehearsal, performance and strike for productions scheduled in the HCPA or the Williams Field High School Auditorium including school, District and community events.
- May be required to respond to emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concerns; secure facilities and grounds for the purpose of minimizing property damages, and to ensure safety at the work site.
- During the course of normal duties, observes District property and reports all safety or security risks or exposures such as broken windows, doors, electrical, plumbing or mechanical fixtures, furniture, etc. and reports problems to supervision.
- Performs minor maintenance duties, such as changing air conditioner/heating filters, light bulbs, and repairing furniture or equipment to ensure proper work condition. Reports vandalism or other facility damage to supervision.
- This position will require working irregular hours, evenings and weekends.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Combination of training, education and experience in stage lighting, sound and rigging equivalent to an Associate’s degree in Theater or related field.
- Experience in the operation and maintenance of a variety of equipment and supplies used to maintain a facility.
- Knowledge of current technology associated with position.
- Must possess a valid Arizona Driver’s License and valid IVP Fingerprint Card by hire date.
- No convictions for felonies or crimes against children.
SKILLS/ABILITIES
Skills are required to perform multiple manual and technical tasks, with an occasional need to upgrade skills due to changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include familiarization with OSHA and EPA regulations governing safety, chemical use and disposal, and operation of all types of theatrical technical equipment.
Ability is required to work flexible schedules including days, nights and weekends depending on scheduled events. Ability to make sound judgments in a variety of situations under pressure and utilize effective problem solving skills. Ability to effectively communicate with diverse groups who contract to use the Higley Center for the Performing Arts and the auditorium at Williams Field High School is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Works in a variety of weather conditions while performing load-in/out duties.
- Works at elevated levels, maximum height of 100 feet, while performing rigging duties.
- May work in small cramped areas.
- Operates scissor lifts and forklifts. Drives golf cart and 26’ box truck.
