- Support HUSD Vision, Mission and Goals.
- Answers Department phones, assists callers presenting a concern, takes messages for parent callers who need assistance from other staff. Directs calls to the appropriate staff person.
- Provides clerical support to Transportation Director and Transportation Supervisor as needed.
- Enters purchase requisitions and orders supplies for the Department.
- Reserves District vehicles for staff and completes billing on a monthly basis.
- Issues parking permits to new employees, sets up employee files, and runs DMV history.
- Enters student conduct reports into tracking system, logs student conduct reports, provides reports to Student Services, archives bus videos for files, and follows up on open referrals.
- Enters work order requests for bus maintenance, monitors preventative maintenance schedules, ensures emissions tests are completed, and updates the parts list.
- Assist in Dispatch Office as needed for breaks and/or during peak times.
- May be required to drive or serve as an aide on a school bus.
- Due to the access to confidential student and employee information, it is absolutely mandatory that this position safeguard and maintain the confidentiality of the information stored and discussed in the Transportation department.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be 21 years of age or older and possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook). Some experience with use of routing, field trip tracker, and student tracking systems. Must be willing to learn new software.
- Excellent customer service and organizational skills required. Must adapt to changing priorities.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a school bus driver certification and Commercial Driver’s License, Class B with “P” and “S” endorsements is required.
- Ability to pass DPS required school bus driver physical performance test.
- Possession of or ability to obtain CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Prefer bus or commercial driving experience.
- Clean driving record for the past five years with good work record and attendance.
- Must be in good physical condition and willing to submit to a physical examination and pre-screening drug test.
- Ability to pass background and reference checking as stipulated by District standards.
- Valid IVP Fingerprint clearance card

- Frequent communication with staff including the exchange of accurate information
- Moving about on foot with minimal rest

- Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions with environmental noise
- Raising or lowering objects from one level to another from 25 – 75 lbs
- Exerting force upon an object so that the object moves away from the force or towards the force
- Frequently required to position body to perform maintenance duties by bending body downward and forward at the waist often requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles, bending body downward and forward by bending legs and spine
- Occasionally ascending or descending ladders and stairs using feet and legs or hands and arms
- Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction
- Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching on narrow slippery surfaces
- Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands.
- Required to have close visual acuity to perform activities related to repairs and maintenance of vehicles
- Clarity of vision at various ranges up to 20 feet including observing an area that can be seen up and down or to the right or left while eyes are fixed on a given point
- Ability to judge distances and spatial relationships so as to see objects where and as they actually are
- Exposure to the following environmental conditions including weather, moving mechanical parts, electric shock, vibration, extreme heat, noise, exhaust fumes, and toxic chemicals.
This is a 12 month position - 40 hours per week. Monday - Friday
