- Support HUSD Vision, Mission and Goals.
- Establishes and maintains student health records, emergency information and a daily log of all students visiting the health and first aid office. Responsible for maintaining physical files and electronic records.
- Responds to all student and staff injuries and illnesses. Monitors students with chronic health conditions. May administer treatments for those conditions, in compliance with District policy.
- Administers medication, either prescription or over-the-counter, in compliance with District policy.
- Maintains complete and accurate records of medications given to ensure complete student health records.
- Records and updates individual student records regarding screenings, immunizations, etc.
- Prepares immunization report for submission to the State.
- Enters all student contacts in the student information system.
- Conducts hearing/vision screenings for students in K, 1st, 2nd, and 6th grade, all SPED students, and all students new to the District. Prepares screening report annually.
- Completes or assists in completing incident reports for all accidents where a child is sent home for observation or medical treatment.
- Consults with the Lead Health Aide as necessary.
- Notifies the school administration of any situation that may be perceived as child neglect or abuse, or if the child is in need of a health assessment.
- Follows universal precautions and infection control procedures regarding any perceived indications that an infectious or contagious disease exists.
- Reports any unsafe environmental conditions to the school administration.
- May be required to attend periodic health in-service training programs and/ or school faculty meetings to receive or convey information.
- Assists in duplicating and distribution of educational and instructional materials on health related issues to teachers, parents and students upon request or as assigned.
- Due to the access to confidential student and staff information, it is absolutely mandatory that this position safeguard and maintain the confidentiality of the information stored and discussed in the school or District.
- Performs other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma
- 2 years of medical experience and possession of medical certification perferred but not required (medical assistant, physician’s assistant, EMT, etc.)
- Current CPR and First Aid cards are required. (No online classes)
- Excellent customer service and organizational skills required. Must be compassionate, patient, willing to adapt to changing priorities. Able to assess situation and determine priorities.
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel). Experience with student information system software. Willingness to learn new software.
- Ability to pass background and reference checking as stipulated by District standards.

A valid driver's license and/or a CDL, if driving is required as part of your position description. The District shall be entitled to review your driving record periodically with the Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles;

The employee is regularly required to perform the following duties:
- Frequent communication with parents, students, and staff including the exchange of accurate information.
- Moving about on foot within building.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 50% of the time either standing or sitting.
- Operate equipment such as computer, other office equipment, and related medical equipment.
- Raising or lowering objects from one level to another from 25 – 50 lbs.
- Frequently required to position body to perform duties by bending body downward and forward at the waist often requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles, bending body downward and forward by bending legs and spine.
- Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
- Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching on narrow or slippery surfaces.
- Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands.
- Required to have close visual acuity to perform activities including preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.
This is a 10 month position - 40 hours per week / Monday - Friday.
