Join our dynamic team as a Community Education Activity Assistant! In this role, you will support the development and implementation of educational activities, ensuring a safe, engaging, and positive environment for children. This position is crucial in helping us achieve our community education goals while interacting with students, parents, and staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support Organizational Goals: Align with and promote the vision, mission, and goals of HUSD.
- Activity Preparation: Help set up and clean up after children's activities.
- Student Assistance: Aid students in completing planned activities and tasks.
- Behavior Monitoring: Oversee and ensure the safety and positive behavior of children in the program.
- Create a Fun Environment: Contribute to a lively and enjoyable atmosphere, making learning and activities engaging for children.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Program Lead to plan and implement enriching and effective activities.
- Field Trip Participation: Assist with and attend field trips.
- Parent Interaction: Engage positively with parents and guardians.
- Regulatory Compliance: Implement and adhere to all rules, and polices set by HUSD.
- Campus Cleaning: Assist with maintaining a clean campus environment as needed.
- Confidentiality: Protect and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive student information.
- Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned to support the Community Education Department.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Education: High School diploma or GED required.
- Experience: At least 6 months of experience in a licensed childcare facility or school setting is preferred.
- Skills: Flexible, open-minded, and patient with children.
- References: Provide three letters of recommendation.
- Background Check: Ability to pass background and professional reference checks as per District standards.
- Valid Department of Public Safety IVP Fingerprint Clearance card
Additional Requirements (Before First Day):
- Proof of immunizations for measles, mumps, rubella, diphtheria, and pertussis.
- Current First Aid and CPR certifications recommended.
Physical Demands:
The following physical demands are representative of what must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this role:
- Communication: Frequent interaction with parents, students, and staff, including exchanging accurate information.
- Student Interaction: Ability to bend, kneel, sit on the floor, and move around to interact with students effectively.
- Mobility: Must be able to move about, remain on feet, and supervise students.
- Lifting: Ability to raise or lower objects weighing between 25-50 lbs.
- Agility: Climb and descend small ladders with ease.
- Visual Acuity: Must have clear vision to monitor and engage with students effectively.
Community Education Activity Assistants will work their regularly scheduled hours throughout the school year, however, the expectation is that you are available to work during fall, winter, spring and summer breaks.
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-Time Position - 12 months (year-round hours vary per position) Monday - Friday
SALARY CLASSIFICATION: Appropriate salary placement on the Classified Hourly Salary Schedule.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated by Site Administrator and according to District Policy.
