ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Responsible for the design, installation, setup and integration of District networks to include interconnection of labs, classrooms, and campuses via the Cisco infrastructure.
  • Installs, configures, maintains and supports LAN\WAN\WLAN.
  • Supports installation and upgrade of Cisco Operating Systems (IOS).
  • Responsible for Cisco Telephony uptime and upgrades.
  • Maintains and supports network hardware and software.
  • Responsible for 24/7/365 Wireless uptime.
  • Assists the Sr. Systems Engineer in network design, implementation and performance.
  • Responsible for ongoing configuration, maintenance and operations of security solutions
  • Responsible for Cisco CER system and related systems.
  • Assists in administering unified messaging system, connectivity for faxing and Cisco VPN solution.
  • Assists other District personnel, supporting them in the completion of their work activities.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of this job include: operating standard office equipment including pertinent software applications; planning and managing projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records and utilizing delegated authority.
  • Hands-on experience in configuration, operation and troubleshooting of networking, routing, and switching equipment.
  • Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing specific, defined processes and operate equipment using defined methods.
  • Required to work with a broad spectrum of diverse individuals; work with a variety of types of data; and utilize specific, job-related equipment.
  • Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate.
  • Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; meeting deadlines and schedules; working with constant interruptions and working with detailed information/data.
  • Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

 

CERTIFICATIONS: Must possess or obtain at least one of the following within 2 years of hire.

  • Net + Certified Technician
  • CWNA Certification
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCN/a)

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.  The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, bend, and sit.  The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop or kneel.

 

Primarily an indoor working environment in multiple locations. Moderate physical effort. May require stooping, bending, kneeling, periodic handling of objects up to 50 pounds, crawling and walking. Requires dexterity to wire and configure computer, media systems and peripherals.

 

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:  Full-Time Position – 12 Months, Monday - Friday 8 hours a day 

 

 

SALARY CLASSIFICATION:  Appropriate salary placement on the Classified Exempt Salary Schedule.

 

EVALUATION:  Performance of this job will be evaluated by Site Administrator and according to District Policy.
