ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned by supervisor):

  • Support HUSD Vision, Mission and Goals. 

  • Assists the Director in the general administration of the center and assume the role and responsibility for the Director in his/her absence as assigned.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to student development, well-being, including student-led learning processes, successful teacher mentoring, meaningful student community involvement, with an open, welcoming, and enriching campus environment. 

  • With the Director, provides leadership, coordinates, and participates in curriculum development and implementation of instructional strategies, evaluates programs and services on a regular basis to encourage the use of a variety of instructional strategies and materials consistent with the latest research on learning and child growth and development and HUSD governing board policy. Works productively as a team member with the Administrative Team, the teaching staff, classified staff, and site-based teams.

  • Assists the Director with hiring, supervising, and evaluating ECDC staff including teachers, aides, and support staff. 

  • Maintains positive relationships with all stakeholders and communicates effectively. 

  • Assists the Director to ensure that all licensing standards and requirements set by the State of Arizona as set forth in the rules for the Licensing of Child Care Facilities are met.

  • Assists the Director in increasing and maintaining enrollment at each ECD center and develops and maintains annual budget for Early Childhood Development Centers.

  • Supports and collaborates with the HUSD Special Education department in providing special education services to eligible students, which includes Child Find.

  • Assists the Director in developing and providing staff development in curriculum areas and effective instructional strategies.

  • Prepares appropriate summary reports and disseminates information to appropriate decision-makers and other public entities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Masters Degree or higher
  • State of Arizona administrative certification.
  • A minimum of three years successful teaching experience.
  • Specific administrative experience through internship and/or previous employment
  • Knowledge of current research in educational curriculum, instruction, assessment, and evaluation.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • No convictions for felonies or crimes against children.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Effective personal relationships with students, administrators, parents and the community.
  • Communicate in a professional and timely manner with parents and all stakeholders.
  • Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, teachers, peers, and the community. 
  • Effective organizational skills in all aspects of the educational programs.

  • Forward-thinking in educational views and evidence of a willingness to accept change.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; type/keyboard; and talk or hear. The employee is required to stand and walk, occasionally required to position body by bending body downward and forward by waist and crawl to reach in specific spaces to access cable/cords. Employee must on occasions lift, raise, and move up to 25 Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
