ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support HUSD Vision, Mission and Goals.
- Performs pre-trip safety inspection of vehicle, inside and out.
- Ensures students are transported safely and securely between residences and schools and / or between schools and approved field trips.
- Records student counts, and documents special needs student counts for reporting.
- Completes forms for disciplinary issues, logs mileage, updates student count reports, updates route forms in the vehicle, and fuels vehicle.
- Due to the potential for access to confidential student information, it is absolutely mandatory that this position safeguard and maintain the confidentiality of the information stored and discussed in the Transportation department.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Possession of valid Arizona Driver’s License in good standing.
- Ability to pass medical exam and DPS required School Bus Driver Physical Performance test.
- Must pass pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, and return to duty drug and alcohol tests.
- Training available for qualified applicants.
- CPR & 1st Aid Certification or ability to obtain certification.
- Valid Department of Public Safety (DPS) IVP Fingerprint Clearance card.
- Ability to pass background and reference checking as stipulated by District standards.

The employee is regularly required to perform the following duties:
- Continuously operates school bus using hand and foot controls.
- Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions with environmental noise.
- Frequent communication with parents, students, and staff including the exchange of accurate information.
- Moving about on foot within and around a school bus.
- Often raising objects from a lower to higher position, higher to lower position, or horizontally weighing up to 35 pounds.
- Occasionally required to drag up to 125 pounds.
- Frequently required to position body to perform duties by bending body downward and forward at the waist often requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles, bending body downward and forward by bending legs and spine.
- Exerting force upon an object so that the object moves away from the force or towards the force.
- Frequently ascending and descending bus stairs using feet and legs or hands and arms.
- Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching on narrow, moving, or slippery surfaces.
- Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands.
- Frequently required to position body by bending body downward and forward by waist.
- Required to have close visual acuity to perform activities including preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.
- Exposure to the following environmental conditions including moving mechanical parts, noise, fumes, and electric shock.
- Clarity of vision at various ranges up to 20 feet including observing an area that can be seen up and down or to the right or left while eyes are fixed on a given point.
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-Time Position - 10 months - 30+ hours
SALARY CLASSIFICATION: Appropriate salary placement on the Classified Hourly Salary Schedule.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated by Site Administrator and according to District Policy.
