ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Support HUSD Vision, Mission and Goals.
  2. Assists classroom Teacher working by working with students. Maintains open communication with Teacher.
  3. Works with students needing supplemental instruction.
  4. Works with individual students or small groups to develop reading skills. Conducts instructional exercises assigned by the Teacher. May work with teacher to plan lessons and prepares materials for upcoming lessons.
  5. Motivates and engages students in the material being covered.
  6. Monitors student progress and may conduct assessments to determine progress during the school year.
  7. Communicates progress information to classroom Teacher.
  8. Assists in maintaining a neat and orderly classroom.
  9. Provides assistance to substitute teachers.
  10. Due to the potential for access to confidential student information, it is absolutely mandatory that this position safeguard and maintain the confidentiality of the information stored and discussed in the school.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

 QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  1. High school Diploma
  2. Capable of working with children one-on-one and in groups.
  3. Ability to relate to students, parents and teachers in a positive manner.
  4. Experience with AR or DIBELS helpful but not required.
  5. Skills and ability to perform the functions of the job to include: instruction, computer, basic academic matters, problem solving and managing work assignments.
  6. Ability to pass background and reference checking as stipulated by District standards.
  7. Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The employee is regularly required to perform the following duties:

  1. Frequent communication with parents, students, and staff including the exchange of accurate information.
  2. Frequent interaction with students by bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist, requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles, bending legs at knee to come to rest on knees, or sitting on the floor requiring to resume an upright position.
  3. Moving about on foot and remaining on one’s feet in an upright position while supervising student(s). ? Raising or lowering an object from one level ranging from 25-50 lbs.
  4. Exerting force upon an object so that the object moves away from the force or towards the force.
  5. Ascending and descending small ladder with agility.
  6. Required to have visual acuity to perform activities with student(s).

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:  10 months, Monday - Friday 32.5 hours per week

 

SALARY CLASSIFICATION:  Appropriate salary placement on the Classified Hourly Salary Schedule.

 

EVALUATION:  Performance of this job will be evaluated by Site Administrator and according to District Policy.
